The Totally Accurate Battle Simulator - Controls

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator Controls

The Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (TABS) control layout and button mapping for PlayStation, Xbox and PC are explained below. Developed by Landfall, TABS is a physics-based strategy sandbox where you place units, start battles, control the camera and jump into unit possession when you want to fight directly.

The game uses two main control states: placement controls before a battle starts, and battle controls once the fight begins. Some actions change depending on whether you are placing units, watching the battle, or possessing a unit.

Placement Controls

Placement mode is where you build your army before the fight begins. You can move the camera, zoom in and out, place units, remove units and clear your army before starting the battle.

  • Place Unit is used to drop the selected unit onto your side of the battlefield.
  • Remove Unit deletes a placed unit.
  • Hold Remove Unit clears placed units faster.
  • Select Units opens or cycles unit selection depending on the current menu state.

Battle Controls

Once the battle starts, the controls shift from army placement to observation and time control. You can slow the action down, freeze time, enter unit possession, or exit the battle and return to placement.

  • Slow Motion lets you watch chaotic fights more clearly.
  • Super Slow Motion slows the battle even further.
  • Pause / Freeze Time stops the action temporarily.
  • Enter / Exit Battle returns you to placement or moves to the next level after victory.

Unit Possession Controls

Unit possession lets you take direct control of a unit during battle. This is useful when you want to aim manually, test unit behavior, or turn a close fight with better timing.

  • Use Left Stick / WASD to move the possessed unit.
  • Use L2 / R2 or LT / RT for vertical movement where supported.
  • Projectile-changing controls may appear for units with multiple projectile options.
